That's how popular Christian fiction author, Karen Kingsbury began her message on Saturday morning at the Extraordinary Women Conference. She has written over 40 novels and has been on the USA Today and New York Times Best Seller List. This weekend, she told us her story - and reminded us that "life is not a dress rehearsal. You only get one chance."
One Chance to Love (John 13 and 1 John 4:7-8)
One Chance to Laugh (Proverbs 17:22)
One Chance to Live
She also reminded us to cherish our "lasts" and reminded us that we never know when the lasts will come, so we have to be prepared. (Moms, you'll definitely want to read her book Let Me Hold You Longer - Just make sure to have a box of tissues handy!)

After Karen Kingsbury spoke, we heard from the Extraordinary Woman of the Year - Thelma Wells. Mrs. Thelma told us: "Don't give in, God wants you to win!" She spoke to us about putting on the armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), which she called "dressing for success."
- Fix your hair: the helmet of salvation
- Cover your heart (aka - pad your bra): the breastplate of righteousness
- Tighten your girdle: gird your loins with truth using the Sword of the Spirit
- Put on your stomping shoes: having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace
- Wear the shield of faith - "For without faith, it is impossible to please him..." Hebrews 11:6
On top of all the wonderful speakers, we were blessed to have Newsong with us this weekend. They led our praise and worship time and also performed for the closing concert. They were incredible, as always. My favorite song that we sang during the praise and worship time is called "Rescue."
You are the source of life
I can't be left behind
No one else will do
I will take hold of You
I need You Jesus, I need You Jesus
My heart is Yours for life
I need Your hand in mine
No one else will do
Lord I put my trust in You
I need You Jesus to come to my rescue
Where else can I go?
There's no other Name by which I am saved
Capture me with grace
I will follow You
My heart is Yours for life
I need Your hand in mine
No one else will do
Lord I put my trust in You
This world has nothing for me (I will follow you)
